Central Tablelands Local Landcare Nursery
Central Tablelands Landcare Nursery is located at the Bathurst Agricultural Research Station, Research Station Drive, Bathurst. Our nursery grows a range of trees, shrubs, grasses and ground flora from the endangered Box-Gum Woodlands and high-altitude grassy woodlands. The nursery is run as a not-for-profit program and supports local projects with the supply of local provenance plants. The nursery is operated by two part-time staff and with assistance from volunteers from the Landcare community.
The nursery is currently evolving and expanding to create a community space that will involve a number of rural community groups including the Wiradyuri Traditional Owners Central West Aboriginal Corporation (WTOCWAC) and Friends of Bathurst Agricultural Research Station (FOBARS). This is a long-term goal involving a number of community hub related projects such as;
- Agricultural demonstration native shelterbelts, erosion and urban drainage displays, native bee and bird friendly gardens surrounding the nursery.
- Assistance in planning and creation of indigenous medicinal and bush food garden.
- Public access to Australia’s largest Historical Agricultural research, buildings and plantings collection.
- Community hub – educational meeting place.
We supply locally grown, native plants to the region for projects large and small.
Plants are grown to order or contact us to see what we have available.
We collect our own seed from the local area, plants are hardy & adapted to the Central Tablelands!
