SUMMARY:Introduction to Sustainable Gardening\, in Orange
DESCRIPTION:Get active this biodiversity month\, by joining local horticulturist expert Dhyan Blore\, who will show you how prepare your patch for a flourishing native garden. Learn how to identify your soil type and then how to prepare it. There will be advice on selecting suitable plants for urban Orange and you’ll be shown how to plant them correctly. We’ll also discuss how to care for your garden and which types mulch and fertilisers to use. There’ll be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and morning tea will be provided. Participants are welcome to register for one or both workshops. Both workshops are also running in Bathurst. \nThese are the first in our Biodiversity Boosters workshop series\, running over 2026-27. These workshops will cover a range of topics to empower community members to increase biodiversity in their local patch\, whether large or small. We will be announcing more workshops soon. \nAbout the presenter. Dhyan is a Landscape Designer\, Horticulturist\, Ecologist and Sustainability Educator with over 20 years experience in the horticulture\, agriculture\, farm forestry and landscaping sectors.She has a strong background in amenity\, conservation and production horticulture having worked in botanic gardens\, retail and wholesale plant nurseries and design and installation of rural and residential gardens. \nDhyan specialises in Water Smart Gardening and biodiversity conservation work delivered via community workshops\, educational videos\, print and electronic media all with a strong focus on fostering behavioural change for improved resource conservation. \n
